It arrived and brought all that lovely weather and now its almost gone and the gorgeous weather with it by the looks of it right at this moment- hopefully not for long! May is my favourite month, it promises so much with warmer weather, flowers and trees starting to grow and bloom and the summer to come, I get so busy enjoying the garden whether tending it or just sitting out enjoying it ( with some crochet in hand of course) that it does seem to pass by in a flash.
I have managed to finished a few WIP’s this month though and make some progress with others, whilst using some of my ever growing yarn stash :). My plastic peg bag broke early on in the month so I decided to whip up my own replacement, a bright little number which I’m very pleased with, I improvised and used an underwear hanger which was just the right size to create the hook for it 🙂 and some beautiful Lang Yarns (lovely range of bright summer colours) dk cotton that I had in my stash:
I also completed a whole shawl this month, it was such an easy and addictive by Christina Hadderingh called the Forest Valley Shawl and uses one of my all time favourite yarns Scheepjes Stonewashed cotton, again I had quite a bit of stonewashed in my stash so I used slightly different shades to the ones mentioned in the pattern but still retaining that forest rustic feel and I’m happy with the outcome and my stash is a bit smaller. The pattern is available as a Scheepjes ‘After the Party’ booklet from retailers or as a download from Ravelry here (only costs £1): Forest Valley Shawl :
I managed to do a few more rows of my second beaded shawl I mentioned last time and catch up on my squares for the Simply Crochet monthly magazine ‘hook and learn’ crochet along which I told you about previously where you learn a new square every month for year to make up a blanket, again I decided to join in on this one as I have a great deal of left over Scheepjes Colour Crafter in my stash, the balls are so big there always seems to be leftovers and more than enough to make individual squares, these are mine in progress and the link to the Simply Crochet facebook group is here Simply Crochet Hook & Learn
See you soon and happy crafting!
