This weeks make whilst finishing the last squares on my two last dance on the beach blankets is a baby cocoon mermaid style – with a pretty headband to match, the large adult versions of mermaid blankets are very popular at the moment – my daughter keeps nagging me for one, I will make her one for christmas when I can find the chunky yarn I want actually in stock somewhere. However for now this a baby version from a pattern by Deborah O’Leary available to download on the Craftsy site. I have bought another one which is peapod cocoon- waiting for my yarn to arrive for that one. For this mermaid cocoon I used a lovel Sidar yarn in my stash – Snuggly Tiny Tots dk x 2 50g balls (shade 0994), the cotton flecking through the lovely soft acrylic yarn is so pretty and has worked very effectively for this project. Its a lovely yarn to crochet with as most Sirdar baby yarns are and worked up really quickly using a 3.00mm clover hook. I used some stash dk yarn leftovers for the flowers in pale pink, fushia pink and baby blue.
I’m pleased with the result and will be popping this in my Etsy shop to sell- cocoons can be quite popular for photo props for babies, or it can make a cute alternative for a blanket.
That is too cute! 😊
