The square for the second week was a design by Kirsten Ballering of haakmaarraak.nl blog, a gorgeous square of 8 rows of star stitch, immediately making you think of the mysterious starfish which sometimes appear on our beaches, certainly a subject of much interest by my children when they have discovered one on the beach in the past. For my Dance under the stars Scheepjes soft kit this square was created with the gorgeous deep mulberry colour Klee (622) and with Alphen (1722) a peaceful sea/green/ blue shade in Scheepjes ColourCrafter for my Dance in the Sea basic kit. The ColourCrafter performs really well for a budget acrylic in this stitch. Like the sea I found the creation of the squares this week a soothing task, the star stitch once you have the hang of it is a lovely rhythmic stitch which creates a lovely textured fabric very quickly.

Loving the project -a beautiful reminder of a very talented lady Marinke Slump aka “Wink” whose birthday would have been today Thursday 5th May….RIP x
